WITH ALL IT’S SHAM, DRUDGERY AND BROKEN DREAMS

BATA PA LANG AKO, MALIBOG NA AKO mahirap dumalaw sa india. paglabas mo pa lang sa eroplano, para ka nang nasa ibang planeta. major culture shock – mainit, iba ang hitsura ng mga tao, mainit, hindi mo sila maintindihang magsalita, iba ang amoy, mainit. tapos paglabas mo sa siyudad – ibang iba. maingay lahat ng mga panay businang sasakyan, mainit, nakaharang ang ang mga baka sa kalye (HOLY COW!), umeebak ang mga baka sa gitna ng kalsada (HOLY SHIT!), mainit, nakahilera sa gilid ng kalye ang mga tent ng mga homeless. nabanggit ko na ba na mainit? heksuli, nasa mag low forties pa lang ngayon. this time next month – the temperatures will average around 45 to 50 degrees C. that’s the time you’ll hear about people dying of the heat. nakakabaliw talaga ang india. kung di ka sanay rito, you’ll go insane after a while. pero alam mo, mawawala lahat ng mga negative impressions mo about india once you see the taj mahal. it is an impressive piece of architecture. dito mo talaga ma-ri-rialize na india, in spite of all it’s contradictions and ugliness, is a cool cool place.

  1. ako naalala ko yung bhagavad gita at mahabharata … actually hindi ko naalala, natutuwa lang ako bigkasin kaya i posted it here.. sige say it again ang again, with indian accent, and you’ll see what i mean.

bat, i wanna see the Taj too.. haven’t been to Agra.. patingin mga pics pagdating mo ha!

(ang sama e, no?)nway, hindi ko alam ganun pala kainit dun. dito sa pinas,my friend’s sis in law passed away coz of too much heat. heat stroke daw.cguro maraming ganun sa india

Not for anything else but alam mo naman mahina naturalesa ko sa sobrang init di ba?

  6. yes! with all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world! i agree!

  7. wow! you’re in India?! India is on my “countries-to-visit” list! I may go with my friend next year if she decides to visit. At least I’m lucky that one of my good friends is actually from India so I know I have a built-in tour guide.

    ENJOY YOUR STAY!

  8. hi kat.

yup, i was in india for a week. a three city mumbai-delhi-kolkata tour. india is an interesting place to visit. it is full of contradictions – of wealth and poverty, of culture and crassness, of beauty and ugliness, of equality and caste. you’ll spend a lifetime and you still won’t understand it. so, i do the next best thing – i eat their food. hehehehe. super sarap!

seriously, i do love india. but i also hate it in equal measures. it is a very complex relationship. you’ll find out what i mean when you experience it first hand. try to visit india during it’s short winter. december to february is the best time. from april to june, it’s a furnace.
