Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

SPIDERMAN-1591-small

  1. rickles’ book – memoir ni don rickles. my kind of comedian: alaskador, buskador, irreverent. over 80 years old na si don at ang librong ito ay kwento ng buhay niya from childhood hanggang pagka senior citizen. maraming mga storya tungkol sa friendship niya with bob newhart at frank sinatra. great read – parang kwentong tambay in english.

  1. yeah but not the director’s cut. and other philip k. dick’s novels turned into films: total recall, a scanner darkly, paycheck, impostor, minority report. But I love his novels/short stories better. 🙂

  2. yup, that’s him. sa title pa lang, pangako na agad na yung author ay mayroong interesting na gustong sabihin – “do androids dream of electric sheep.” i wish i was the one who thought of that.

ridley scott’s blade runner adaptation is a classic. lalo na yung director’s cut.

  4. film noir! woohoo. “blade runner” at “dark city” are really great “noir” science fiction films na malakas ang appeal sa akin.

    libro ni hudas?

  5. Try mo rin yung kay Eric Idle—The Greedy Bastard Diary. He’s one of the Monty Python group. Kakaloka. Fave namin ni Unlawyer re Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations tv series was when he was in Uzbekistan. Mamatay matay kami sa katatawa nung nagpa Turkish massage sya. A Cook’s Tour is also a great read.

  6. Greetings Jay!

I’m prompted to add na pareho kayo ni mister sa taste ninyo sa pelikula; paulit-ulit niyang pinanonood ang Blade Runner (recently shown on KCET, with commentary by Martin Sheen) o Sin City (Garla Gugino’s boobs were a hit) if he happens to find them while channel surfing. Kung mahilig ka sa Stargate SG-1, Battlestar Galactica, or anything from the Sci-Fi Network or FX (with a few exceptions) eh talagang magkakasundo kayo.

Nabasa ko ang Kitchen Confidential; I’ll never look at a buffet spread the same way again. (The few times I’ve seen his gourmet adventure show, it seems the only Asian country he’s visited is Vietnam, but I could be wrong.)

Okay, gotta get back to work…will chat again later…

  7. hi classmate daisy.

i do love blade runner and sin city. may DVD ako ng director’s cut and i watch it always. i love the firefly series and the eventual serenity movie. i’m sure your husband knows about this. i used to watch the old star trek as well. isa ko pang personal favorite ang dark city. that’s a classic.

bourdain’s been to almost all the major coutries in asia (except the philippines, so far). he’s been to china, vietnam, japan, singapore, malaysia , singapore and indonesia.

siguro takot siyang magpunta ng maynila.

    ingat!
    jay

  8. Jay! I can’t believe na nakalimutan kong banggitin ang Firefly at Serenity! (He always raves about the dialogue.)

  9. maganda ang mga premise ng serenity/firefly, blade runner and the matrix on how the future will turn up. it will be the latino/asians who will rule. or, at the very least, these groups will have the most impact.

doon sa serenity, ang assumption nila ay in the future, china and the US will be the dominant nations and the dialog of the cast is a mixture of mandarin ang english. i agree with your husband, the script’s pretty smart and the dialog is right on.
