MR. GABERTAN – NOTRE DAME OF MANILA HIGH SCHOOL

sa pag-retire ng isang high school teacher: a short tribute to gabby, galing sa mga makukulit at antukin mong estudyante ng notre dame batch 1983

Dear Mr. Gabertan,

I still remember the debates. I was with Rey Opena and Arnold Ressurection. Our opponents were Ricardo Victorio (our Validictorian), Cornelio Lozada (Salutatorian) and Ricky Magpoc (now a gynecologist, kaya puro pek-pek nakikita niya araw-araw. Di ka ba naiinggit sa kanya sir?). Our debate: “Resolved that Japan be Re-armed”. I won a trophy (as Best Speaker). It was the only one I won in Notre Dame, and, it still holds a special place in my Library at home in Manila. To take part in the debates was probably one of the best decisions I made in High School. It made me a better person. I learned to be more confident speaking (and fighting) with people.

Ingat kayo at sana marami pa kayong magawa after retirement and I wish for you the best. Thank you very much for being part of the group of beloved teachers who’ve shaped my life.

Yours Truly,

Nick David

Letter Number 2:

Dear Mr. Roger,

Ingat kayo at sana marami pa kayong magawa after retirement.

Gumagalang,

Bong Pedro

Letter Number 3:

Dear Sir,

Take care and Good luck sa inyong retirement !!!

Gumagalang din,

Vic Perlas III

  2. From Ms. Flery Malaluan Masangkay
    TO ALL NDGM ALUMNI:

It is with sadness that I am informing everyone that MR. ROGELIO GABERTAN, our former History teacher, has been missing since this morning.

He has Alzheimer’s Disease. He was at the NAIA Domestic Airport on his way to Cotabato, with his wife, when he got lost. He doesn’t have an ID and money. The Airport Security and the PNP has searched for him around the vicinity but he was not found.

His wife has reported the incident to DZRH and made a blotter with the PNP as of this afternoon.

Please spread this news to all our batchmates so we can find him the soonest possible time.

Let us pray that he will be safe until he is found.

    Thank you very much!
