DRAGON BOAT RACE US AND WE’LL WHIP YOUR ASS

nanonood ako ng CNN kagabi at gusto kong maiyak sa tuwa. nanalo ang isang team ng mga domestic helpers na pinay sa prestigious at world famous “dragon boat race” sa hong kong. considering na ang mga sumasali rito ay mga professional boat racers, ang pagka panalo ng mga pinay na ito ay talagang kahanga-hanga. mayron pa ngang pinay doon sa team na hindi marunong lumangoy. hehehe. pati nga si veronica pedrosa ng CNN ay napa sabi ng “i can’t help but feel proud, being filipino myself”. i love their team name, by the way. they call themselves… “The Bulldog Mabuhay Dragon Boat Team

the khaleej times online said it best:

“In a city with a snobbish disregard for the migrant workers who clean its homes, the Bulldogs have beaten off prejudice and sexism to earn respect in a sport dominated by monied Western expatriates or hard-bitten Chinese fishermen.”

  1. Mabuti at nanalo tayo, pareng BatJay. =)

I have to ask baka sabihin na naman nila nandaya tayo e. Lam mo na…

  3. tuwa ako sobra nung nabasa ko to. in your face sila. (raises one dirty finger with sassy, batjay, and pao. waves the philippine flag in the other).

  5. saw ur link from jet.. saya pala rito sa blog mo.. sarap basahin.. 🙂

anyway, just recently nakapanood ako ng dragon boat race nung bumisita ako sa DC kasi nag compete dun ate ko for the race. cguro 20 teams from different states yung andun and bilib ako sa kanila kasi asa top 3 sila. 2 yung pinsan kong nasa race din. and pareho silang nanalo (i mean, both teams nila)… kaso sabi ko sa ate ko, “di ba masakit yun sa kili kili?”

  6. way to go girls!!! sino’ng mag aakalang pag-uurong lang ng pinggan ang alam nila? but kidding aside, we know very well that a lot of those who had the opportunity to go there and work as helpers, used to be teachers here…but whether they’re ex-teachers or not, what they’ve achieved can now be written in our country’s history! Mabuhay kayo mga ateng!

  7. jay kakamabal ko rommel(bluejournals). nkita ko ung picture mo kasama si ate donna ko sa US. pinsan sya ng asawa ko. gusto ko sana malaman kung pano kayo nging related.gulat lng talaga ako ng makita ko ung pic nya. by the way “dalusong” ata maiden name nya.

  8. Those Pinays deserve their victory, poetic justice in a country that looks down on us. Filipinos are world-class in our own little ways indeed.

  9. Syet ang galing! Sayang wala dito sa BBC news so I could show my officemates!

Ang galing talaga… nakakaangat ng pwet hehehe

  11. By any chance did Donna Dalusong went to OLGA? If so, kindly tell her that I have been looking for her for years. We went to school together since the 4rth grade. Please tell her that I miss her.

    Sincerely,
    Charity

  12. of course she went to OLGA. in fact, i think i remember your name. donna is in the US – i’ll cc her in this mail and you two can catch up.

  13. Oh my God!!! Am I believing what I see?? Charity??? As in Charity Muller. Geez… Woman, you gotta email me. How did this happen Tito Jay? How did she get to email you? Man, I have been thinking about Charity for years!!! I can not believe this… grabe. As in sobrang surprise talaga ako.

    To Charity,

Hey girl. How have you been? Geez, woman… do you know that I’ve thought and wondered about you for years? I even mentioned you to one of my friends like a year or two ago. Told him about this white chick who was practically my best friend and that a certain Mary Jane Castillo almost wrecked our friendship because she created lies and stories about you and I started hating you when we were in… duh, 5th grade??? Anyway, it’s not OLGA anymore but it’s St. Mary’s… still RVM school though. We gotta catch up, girl. I see your surname is Villa now. The last time I spoke with you was when you called me overseas from the States and you had a doctor boyfriend back then. This is such a small world. I thought I lost you forever. How did you get to email my Uncle? Where are you now? I am currently in the US. Still single. Got divorced and I have a four-year old daughter. Give me your phone number and well, I’m sure we got a lot of emailing to do. I am so glad electronic mail is with us now. Can you imagine how I will be able to bump into you if it weren’t for this fascinating communication system?? Oh wow… I am still overwhelmed. I can not believe you found me!! I am so pleased. You were one of my greatest friends when we were kids. Got plenty of lovely memories with you. Remember how we memorized almost all the lines in Thornbirds (Richard Chamberlain) and Lace (Phoebe Cates)? Wow. Great to see you, girl. (Sort of “see”). Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Donna

  14. Hi donna,

    Looking forward hearing from you..

    Jovenal
